So she wept before Samson and complained, saying: Thou hatest me, and dost not love me: therefore thou wilt not expound to me the riddle, which thou hast proposed to the sons of my people. But he answered: I would not tell it to my father and mother: and how can I tell it to thee? Then hear thou them in heaven, and forgive the sins of thy servants, and of thy people Israel: and shew them the good way wherein they should walk, and give rain upon thy land, which thou hast given to thy people in possession.
Then hear thou in heaven, in the firmament of thy dwelling place, and do all those things, for which that stranger shall call upon thee: that all the people of the earth may learn to fear thy name, as do thy people Israel, and may prove that thy name is called upon on this house, which I have built.
That thy eyes may be open to the supplication of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, to hear them in all things for which they shall call upon thee.
That all the people of the earth may know, that the Lord he is God, and there is no other besides him.
If this people go up to offer sacrifices in the house of the Lord at Jerusalem: and the heart of this people will turn to their lord Roboam, the king of Juda, and they will kill me, and return to him.
And he made temples in the high places, and priests of the lowest of the people, who were not of the sons of Levi.
After these words, Jeroboam came not back from his wicked way: but on the contrary, he made of the meanest of the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he filled his hand, and he was made a priest of the high places.
3_Kings 14 7 Vade, et dic Jeroboam : Haec dicit Dominus Deus Israel : Quia exaltavi te de medio populi, et dedi te ducem super populum meum Israel, Go, and tell Jeroboam: Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel: For as much as I exalted thee from among the people, and made thee prince over my people Israel; None
3_Kings 16 21 Tunc divisus est populus Israel in duas partes : media pars populi sequebatur Thebni filium Gineth, ut constitueret eum regem : et media pars Amri. Then were the people of Israel divided into two parts: one half of the people followed Thebni, the son of Gineth, to make him king: and one half followed Amri.
And the messengers returning brought him word. And he sent again, and said: Such and such things may the gods do to me, and more may they add, if the dust of Samaria shall suffice for handfuls for all the people that follow me.
3_Kings 21 9 Litterarum autem haec erat sententia : Praedicate jejunium, et sedere facite Naboth inter primos populi : And this was the tenor of the letters: Proclaim a fast, and make Naboth sit among the chief of the people; Καὶ προσῆλθεν ὁ προφήτης πρὸς βασιλέα Ἰσραὴλ, καὶ εἶπε, κραταιοῦ καὶ γνῶθι καὶ ἴδε τί ποιήσεις, ὅτι ἐπιστρέφοντος τοῦ ἐνιαυτοῦ υἱὸς Ἄδερ βασιλεὺς Συρίας ἀναβαίνει ἐπὶ σὲ.

3_Kings 22 28 Dixitque Michaeas : Si reversus fueris in pace, non est locutus in me Dominus. Et ait : Audite, populi omnes. And Micheas said: If thou return in peace, the Lord hath not spoken by me. And he said: Hear, all ye people.
He said to his servant: Say to her: Behold, thou hast diligently served us in all things; what wilt thou have me to do for thee? Hast thou any business, and wilt thou, that I speak to the king, or to the general of the army? And she answered: I dwell in the midst of my own people.
4_Kings 11 13 Audivit autem Athalia vocem populi currentis : et ingressa ad turbas in templum Domini, And Athalia heard the noise of the people running: and going in to the people into the temple of the Lord, Καὶ ἤκουσε Γοθολία τὴν φωνὴν τῶν τρεχόντων τοῦ λαοῦ, καὶ εἰσῆλθε πρὸς τὸν λαὸν εἰς οἶκον Κυρίου,
And king Achaz commanded Urias, the priest, saying: Upon the great altar offer the morning holocaust, and the evening sacrifice, and the king's holocaust, and his sacrifice, and the holocaust of the whole people of the land, and their sacrifices, and their libations: and all the blood of the holocaust, and all the blood of the victim, thou shalt pour out upon it: but the altar of brass shall be ready at my pleasure.
4_Kings 20 5 Revertere, et dic Ezechiae duci populi mei : Haec dicit Dominus Deus David patris tui : Audivi orationem tuam, et vidi lacrimas tuas, et ecce sanavi te : die tertio ascendes templum Domini. Go back, and tell Ezechias, the captain of my people: Thus saith the Lord, the God of David, thy father: I have heard thy prayer, and I have seen thy tears: and behold I have healed thee: on the third day thou shalt go up to the temple of the Lord.
And he carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the valiant men of the army, to the number of ten thousand, into captivity: and every artificer and smith: and none were left, but the poor sort of the people of the land.
And Nabuzardan, the commander of the army, carried away the rest of the people, that remained in the city, and the fugitives, that had gone over to the king of Babylon, and the remnant of the common people.
1_Paralipomenon 17 7 Nunc itaque sic loqueris ad servum meum David : Haec dicit Dominus exercituum : Ego tuli te, cum in pascuis sequereris gregem, ut esses dux populi mei Israel : Now therefore thus shalt thou say to my servant David: Thus saith the Lord of hosts: I took thee from the pastures, from following the flock, that thou shouldst be ruler of my people Israel.
1_Paralipomenon 19 11 Reliquam autem partem populi dedit sub manu Abisai fratris sui : et perrexerunt contra filios Ammon. And the rest of the people he delivered into the hand of Abisai his brother, and they went against the children of Ammon.
And David said to Joab, and to the rulers of the people: Go, and number Israel from Bersabee even to Dan, and bring me the number of them that I may know it.
And he set seventy thousand of them to carry burdens on their shoulders, and eighty thousand to hew stones in the mountains: and three thousand and six hundred to be overseers of the work of the people. And that thou wouldst hear the prayer which thy servant prayeth in it: hearken then to the prayers of thy servant, and of thy people Israel. Whosoever shall pray in its place, hear thou from thy dwelling place, that is, from heaven, and shew mercy.
2_Paralipomenon 6 26 Si clauso caelo pluvia non fluxerit propter peccata populi, et deprecati te fuerint in loco isto, et confessi nomini tuo, et conversi a peccatis suis, cum eos afflixeris, If the heavens be shut up, and there fall no rain by reason of the sin of the people, and they shall pray to thee in this place, and confess to thy name, and be converted from their sins, where thou dost afflict them, Ἐν τῷ συσχεθῆναι τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ μὴ γενέσθαι ὑετὸν, ὅτι ἁμαρτήσονταί σοι, καὶ προσεύξονται εἰς τὸν τόπον τοῦτον, καὶ αἰνέσουσι τὸ ὄνομά σου, καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν αὐτῶν ἐπιστρέψουσιν, ὅτι ταπεινώσεις αὐτοὺς,

Then hear thou from heaven, O Lord, and forgive the sins of thy servants and of thy people Israel and teach them the good way in which they may walk: and give rain to thy land which thou hast given to thy people to possess.
And you have cast out the priests of the Lord, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites: and you have made you priests, like all the nations of the earth: whosoever cometh and consecrateth his hand with a bullock of the herd, and with seven rams, is made a priest of those who are no gods.

And he took the captains of hundreds, and the most valiant men, and the chiefs of the people, and all the people of the land, and they brought down the king from the house of the Lord, and brought him through the upper gate into the king's house, and set him on the royal throne.

The spirit of God then came upon Zacharias the son of Joiada the priest, and he stood in the sight of the people, and said to them: Thus saith the Lord God: Why transgress you the commandment of the Lord which will not be for your good, and have forsaken the Lord, to make him forsake you?

Isaias 30 26 et erit lux lunae sicut lux solis, et lux solis erit septempliciter sicut lux septem dierum, in die qua alligaverit Dominus vulnus populi sui, et percussuram plagae ejus sanaverit. And the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days: in the day when the Lord shall bind up the wound of his people, and shall heal the stroke of their wound.
Isaias 32 13 Super humum populi mei spinae et vepres ascendent : quanto magis super omnes domos gaudii civitatis exultantis ! Upon the land of my people shall thorns and briers come up: how much more upon all the houses of joy, of the city that rejoiced?
At the voice of the angel the people fled, and at the lifting up thyself the nations are scattered.
Isaias 33 12 Et erunt populi quasi de incendio cinis ; spinae congregatae igni comburentur. And the people shall be as ashes after a fire, as a bundle of thorns they shall be burnt with fire.
Isaias 34 1 [Accedite, gentes, et audite ; et populi, attendite : audiat terra, et plenitudo ejus ; orbis, et omne germen ejus. Come near, ye Gentiles, and hear, and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein, the world, and every thing that cometh forth of it.
Isaias 36 11 Et dixit Eliacim, et Sobna, et Joahe, ad Rabsacen : Loquere ad servos tuos syra lingua ; intelligimus enim ; ne loquaris ad nos judaice in auribus populi qui est super murum. And Eliacim, and Sobna, and Joahe said to Rabsaces: Speak to thy servants in the Syrian tongue: for we understand it: speak not to us in the Jews' language in the hearing of the people, that are upon the wall. Καὶ εἶπε πρὸς αὐτὸν Ἑλιακεὶμ, καὶ Σομνᾶς, καὶ Ἰωὰχ, λάλησον πρὸς τοὺς παῖδάς σου Συριστί· ἀκούομεν γὰρ ἡμεῖς· καὶ μὴ λάλει πρὸς ἡμᾶς Ἰουδαϊστί· καὶ ἱνατί λαλεῖς εἰς τὰ ὦτα τῶν ἀνθρώπων ἐπὶ τῷ τείχει;
Isaias 42 6 Ego Dominus vocavi te in justitia, et apprehendi manum tuam, et servavi te : et dedi te in foedus populi, in lucem gentium, I the Lord have called thee in justice, and taken thee by the hand, and preserved thee. And I have given thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles: Ἐγὼ Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς ἐκάλεσά σε ἐν δικαιοσύνῃ, καὶ κρατήσω τῆς χειρός σου, καὶ ἐνισχύσω σε, καὶ ἔδωκά σε εἰς διαθήκην γένους, εἰς φῶς ἐθνῶν,
Give ear, ye islands, and hearken, ye people from afar. The Lord hath called me from the womb, from the bowels of my mother he hath been mindful of my name.
Isaias 49 8 [Haec dicit Dominus : In tempore placito exaudivi te, et in die salutis auxiliatus sum tui : et servavi te, et dedi te in foedus populi, ut suscitares terram, et possideres haereditates dissipatas ; Thus saith the Lord: In an acceptable time I have heard thee, and in the day of salvation I have helped thee: and I have preserved thee, and given thee to be a covenant of the people, that thou mightest raise up the earth, and possess the inheritances that were destroyed:
He was taken away from distress, and from judgment: who shall declare his generation? because he is cut off out of the land of the living: for the wickedness of my people have I struck him.
Isaias 57 14 Et dicam : Viam facite, praebete iter ; declinate de semita, auferte offendicula de via populi mei. And I will say: Make a way: give free passage, turn out of the path, take away the stumblingblocks out of the way of my people.
Isaias 63 11 Et recordatus est dierum saeculi Moysi, et populi sui. Ubi est qui eduxit eos de mari cum pastoribus gregis sui ? Ubi est qui posuit in medio ejus spiritum Sancti sui ; And he remembered the days of old of Moses, and of his people: Where is he that brought them up out of the sea, with the shepherds of his flock? where is he that put in the midst of them the spirit of his Holy One? Καὶ ἐμνήσθη ἡμερῶν αἰωνίων· ποῦ ὁ ἀναβιβάσας ἐκ τῆς θαλάσσης τὸν ποιμένα τῶν προβάτων; ποῦ ἐστιν ὁ θεὶς ἐν αὐτοῖς τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον;
They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree, so shall be the days of my people, and the works of their hands shall be of long continuance.
Isaias 66 6 Vox populi de civitate, vox de templo, vox Domini reddentis retributionem inimicis suis. A voice of the people from the city, a voice from the temple, the voice of the Lord that rendereth recompense to his enemies.
