16:1 Attulerunt igitur arcam Dei, et constituerunt eam in medio tabernaculi quod tetenderat ei David : et obtulerunt holocausta et pacifica coram Deo.

16:2 Cumque complesset David offerens holocausta et pacifica, benedixit populo in nomine Domini.

*H And he appointed Levites to minister before the ark of the Lord, and to remember his works, and to glorify, and praise the Lord God of Israel.

16:11 Quaerite Dominum, et virtutem ejus : quaerite faciem ejus semper.
*H Seek ye the Lord, and his power: seek ye his face evermore.
Ver. 11. Power. The ark was frequently the instrument of God's power; and his people are exhorted to present themselves to pray before it. C. — God seemed to dwell there, and often displayed his wonders. D.

16:26 Omnes enim dii populorum idola : Dominus autem caelos fecit.
For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.

16:27 Confessio et magnificentia coram eo : fortitudo et gaudium in loco ejus.

Ver. 27. Place. In Ps. xcv. 6. holiness and majesty in his sanctuary. Heb. "strength and beauty in," &c. God is served in his tabernacle with piety.

Give ye glory to the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

הוֹד֤וּ לַ/יהוָה֙ כִּ֣י ט֔וֹב כִּ֥י לְ/עוֹלָ֖ם חַסְדּֽ/וֹ
16:35 Et dicite : Salva nos, Deus salvator noster, et congrega nos, et erue de gentibus : ut confiteamur nomini sancto tuo, et exultemus in carminibus tuis.
*H And say ye: Save us, O God our savior: and gather us together, and deliver us from the nations, that we may give glory to thy holy name, and may rejoice in singing thy praises.
Ver. 35. And say, &c. is not in the psalm; and it seems not to agree with the flourishing state of David's kingdom: yet he might speak with the spirit of prophecy, or wish that all his subjects might live in happiness and concord under him. C. — Others think that Esdras inserted these verses to be sung in the second temple, (Lyran. E.) when many still remained in captivity. Yet they may refer to the time of Christ. D.
Καὶ εἴπατε, σῶσον ἡμᾶς, ὁ Θεὸς τῆς σωτηρίας ἡμῶν καὶ ἄθροισον ἡμᾶς. καὶ ἐξελοῦ ἡμᾶς ἐκ τῶν ἐθνῶν, τοῦ αἴνειν τὸ ὄνομα τὸ ἅγιόν σου, καὶ καυχᾶσθαι ἐν ταῖς αἰνέσεσί σου.
וְ/אִמְר֕וּ הוֹשִׁיעֵ֨/נוּ֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׁעֵ֔/נוּ וְ/קַבְּצֵ֥/נוּ וְ/הַצִּילֵ֖/נוּ מִן הַ/גּוֹיִ֑ם לְ/הֹדוֹת֙ לְ/שֵׁ֣ם קָדְשֶׁ֔/ךָ לְ/הִשְׁתַּבֵּ֖חַ בִּ/תְהִלָּתֶֽ/ךָ
16:36 Benedictus Dominus Deus Israel, ab aeterno usque in aeternum.] Et dicat omnis populo : Amen, et hymnum Domino.
*H Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel from eternity to eternity: and let all the people say Amen, and a hymn to God.
Ver. 36. And sing. Heb. "and Alleluia," or, "all...said, (or shall say) truth and praise be to the Lord."
'Εὐλογημένος Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς Ἰσραὴλ ἀπὸ τοῦ αἰῶνος καὶ ἕως τοῦ αἰῶνος·
בָּר֤וּךְ יְהוָה֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מִן הָ/עוֹלָ֖ם וְ/עַ֣ד הָ/עֹלָ֑ם וַ/יֹּאמְר֤וּ כָל הָ/עָם֙ אָמֵ֔ן וְ/הַלֵּ֖ל לַֽ/יהוָֽה
16:37 Reliquit itaque ibi coram arca foederis Domini Asaph et fratres ejus, ut ministrarent in conspectu arcae jugiter per singulos dies, et vices suas.
So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, Asaph and his brethren to minister in the presence of the ark continually day by day, and in their courses.
Καὶ κατέλιπον ἐκεῖ ἔναντι τῆς κιβωτοῦ διαθήκης Κυρίου τὸν Ἀσὰφ καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ, τοῦ λειτουργεῖν ἐναντίον τῆς κιβωτοῦ διαπαντὸς τὸ τῆς ἡμέρας εἰς ἡμέραν.
וַ/יַּֽעֲזָב שָׁ֗ם לִ/פְנֵי֙ אֲר֣וֹן בְּרִית יְהוָ֔ה לְ/אָסָ֖ף וּ/לְ/אֶחָ֑י/ו לְ/שָׁרֵ֞ת לִ/פְנֵ֧י הָ/אָר֛וֹן תָּמִ֖יד לִ/דְבַר י֥וֹם בְּ/יוֹמֽ/וֹ
16:38 Porro Obededom, et fratres ejus sexaginta octo : et Obededom filium Idithun, et Hosa, constituit janitores ;
And Obededom, with his brethren sixty-eight: and Obededom the son of Idithun, and Hosa he appointed to be porters.
Καὶ Ἀβδεδὸμ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ, ἑξήκοντα καὶ ὀκτώ· καὶ Ἀβδεδὸμ υἱὸς Ἰδιθοὺν, καὶ Ὀσὰ, εἰς τοὺς πυλωρούς.
וְ/עֹבֵ֥ד אֱדֹ֛ם וַ/אֲחֵי/הֶ֖ם שִׁשִּׁ֣ים וּ/שְׁמוֹנָ֑ה וְ/עֹבֵ֨ד אֱדֹ֧ם בֶּן יְדִית֛וּן וְ/חֹסָ֖ה לְ/שֹׁעֲרִֽים
16:39 Sadoc autem sacerdotem, et fratres ejus sacerdotes, coram tabernaculo Domini in excelso quod erat in Gabaon,
*H And Sadoc the priest, and his brethren priests, before the tabernacle of the Lord in the high place, which was in Gabaon.
Ver. 39. Sadoc was to minister at Gabaon, with Heman, Idithun, &c. while Abiathar, Asaph, &c. officiated at Jerusalem. C. — This regulation continued till towards the end of David's reign, (H.) when fresh orders were given. C. xxiii. &c. We find Abiathar and Sadoc were both at Jerusalem, when David was obliged to flee. 2 K. xv. 24. and 3 K. i. 7. The altar at Gabaon continued some time longer. 3 K. iii. 3.
Καὶ τὸν Σαδὼκ τὸν ἱερέα καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ τοὺς ἱερεῖς ἐναντίον τῆς σκηνῆς Κυρίου ἐν βαμὰ τῇ ἐν Γαβαὼν,
וְ/אֵ֣ת צָד֣וֹק הַ/כֹּהֵ֗ן וְ/אֶחָי/ו֙ הַ/כֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים לִ/פְנֵ֖י מִשְׁכַּ֣ן יְהוָ֑ה בַּ/בָּמָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר בְּ/גִבְעֽוֹן
16:40 ut offerrent holocausta Domino super altare holocautomatis jugiter, mane et vespere, juxta omnia quae scripta sunt in lege Domini, quam praecepit Israeli.
That they should offer holocausts to the Lord upon the altar of holocausts continually, morning and evening, according to all that is written in the law of the Lord, which he commanded Israel.
τοῦ ἀναφέρειν ὁλοκαυτώματα τῷ Κυρίῳ ἐπὶ τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου τῶν ὁλοκαυτωμάτων διαπαντὸς τοπρωῒ καὶ τοεσπέρας, καὶ κατὰ πάντα τὰ γεγραμμένα ἐν νόμῳ Κυρίου ὅσα ἐνετείλατο ἐφʼ υἱοῖς Ἰσραὴλ ἐν χειρὶ Μωυσῆ τοῦ θεράποντος τοῦ Θεοῦ.
לְֽ/הַעֲלוֹת֩ עֹל֨וֹת לַ/יהוָ֜ה עַל מִזְבַּ֧ח הָ/עֹלָ֛ה תָּמִ֖יד לַ/בֹּ֣קֶר וְ/לָ/עָ֑רֶב וּ/לְ/כָל הַ/כָּתוּב֙ בְּ/תוֹרַ֣ת יְהוָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוָּ֖ה עַל יִשְׂרָאֵֽל
16:41 Et post eum Heman, et Idithun, et reliquos electos, unumquemque vocabulo suo ad confitendum Domino, quoniam in aeternum misericordia ejus.
And after him Heman, and Idithun, and the rest that were chosen, every one by his name to give praise to the Lord: because his mercy endureth for ever.
Καὶ μετʼ αὐτοῦ Αἰμὰν καὶ Ἰδιθοὺν, καὶ οἱ λοιποὶ ἐκλεγέντες ἐπʼ ὀνόματος τοῦ αἰνεῖν τὸν Κύριον, ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ.
וְ/עִמָּ/הֶם֙ הֵימָ֣ן וִֽ/ידוּת֔וּן וּ/שְׁאָר֙ הַ/בְּרוּרִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר נִקְּב֖וּ בְּ/שֵׁמ֑וֹת לְ/הֹדוֹת֙ לַֽ/יהוָ֔ה כִּ֥י לְ/עוֹלָ֖ם חַסְדּֽ/וֹ
16:42 Heman quoque et Idithun canentes tuba, et quatientes cymbala et omnia musicorum organa ad canendum Deo : filios autem Idithun fecit esse portarios.
And Heman and Idithun sounded the trumpet, and played on the cymbals, and all kinds of musical instruments to sing praises to God: and the sons of Idithun he made porters.
Καὶ μετʼ αὐτῶν σάλπιγγες καὶ κὺμβαλα τοῦ ἀναφωνεῖν καὶ ὄργανα τῶν ῷδῶν τοῖ Θεοῦ, οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ Ἰδιθοὺν εἰς τὴν πύλην.
וְ/עִמָּ/הֶם֩ הֵימָ֨ן וִֽ/ידוּת֜וּן חֲצֹצְר֤וֹת וּ/מְצִלְתַּ֨יִם֙ לְ/מַשְׁמִיעִ֔ים וּ/כְלֵ֖י שִׁ֣יר הָ/אֱלֹהִ֑ים וּ/בְנֵ֥י יְדוּת֖וּן לַ/שָּֽׁעַר
16:43 Reversusque est omnis populus in domum suam : et David, ut benediceret etiam domui suae.
*H And all the people returned to their houses: and David to bless also his own house.
Ver. 43. Bless, or feast, (D.) with his family, on part of the sacred victims. H.
Καὶ ἐπορεύθη πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ἕκαστος εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐπέστρεψε Δαυὶδ τοῦ εὐλογῆσαι τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ.
וַ/יֵּלְכ֥וּ כָל הָ/עָ֖ם אִ֣ישׁ לְ/בֵית֑/וֹ וַ/יִּסֹּ֥ב דָּוִ֖יד לְ/בָרֵ֥ךְ אֶת בֵּיתֽ/וֹ
