Job 1 1 Vir erat in terra Hus, nomine Job : et erat vir ille simplex, et rectus, ac timens Deum, et recedens a malo. There was a man in the land of Hus, whose name was Job, and that man was simple and upright, and fearing God, and avoiding evil. Dicebat enim : Ne forte peccaverint filii mei, et benedixerint Deo in cordibus suis. Sic faciebat Job cunctis diebus. And when the days of their feasting were gone about, Job sent to them, and sanctified them: and rising up early, offered holocausts for every one of them. For he said: Lest perhaps my sons have sinned, and have blessed God in their hearts. So did Job all days. Job 1 8 Dixitque Dominus ad eum : Numquid considerasti servum meum Job, quod non sit ei similis in terra, homo simplex et rectus, ac timens Deum, et recedens a malo ? And the Lord said to him: Hast thou considered my servant, Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a simple and upright man, and fearing God, and avoiding evil? But thou hast moved me against him, that I should afflict him without cause. Job 2 7 Egressus igitur Satan a facie Domini, percussit Job ulcere pessimo, a planta pedis usque ad verticem ejus ; So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord, and struck Job with a very grievous ulcer, from the sole of the foot even to the top of his head: Ἐξῆλθε δὲ ὁ διάβολος ἀπὸ τοῦ Κυρίου· καὶ ἔπαισε τὸν Ἰὼβ ἕλκει πονηρῷ ἀπὸ ποδῶν ἕως κεφαλῆς.

And he said to her: Thou hast spoken like one of the foolish women: If we have received good things at the hand of God, why should we not receive evil? In all these things Job did not sin with his lips. Job 2 11 Igitur audientes tres amici Job omne malum quod accidisset ei, venerunt singuli de loco suo, Eliphaz Themanites, et Baldad Suhites, et Sophar Naamathites. Condixerant enim ut pariter venientes visitarent eum, et consolarentur. Now when Job's three friends heard all the evil that had befallen him, they came every one from his own place, Eliphaz, the Themanite, and Baldad, the Suhite, and Sophar, the Naamathite. For they had made an appointment to come together and visit him, and comfort him. Job 32 2 Et iratus indignatusque est Eliu filius Barachel Buzites, de cognatione Ram : iratus est autem adversum Job, eo quod justum se esse diceret coram Deo. And Eliu the son of Barachel the Buzite of the kindred of Ram, was angry and was moved to indignation: now he was angry against Job, because he said he was just before God. Job 32 3 Porro adversum amicos ejus indignatus est, eo quod non invenissent responsionem rationabilem, sed tantummodo condemnassent Job. And he was angry with his friends, because they had not found a reasonable answer, but only had condemned Job. Take unto you therefore seven oxen and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer for yourselves a holocaust, and my servant Job shall pray for you: his face I will accept, that folly be not imputed to you: for you have not spoken right things before me, as my servant Job hath. Νῦν δὲ λάβετε ἑπτὰ μόσχους, καὶ ἑπτὰ κριοὺς, καὶ πορεύθητε πρὸς τὸν θεράποντά μου Ἰὼβ, καὶ ποιήσει κάρπωσιν ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν. Job 42 9 Abierunt ergo Eliphaz Themanites, et Baldad Suhites, et Sophar Naamathites, et fecerunt sicut locutus fuerat Dominus ad eos : et suscepit Dominus faciem Job. So Eliphaz the Themanite, and Baldad the Suhite, and Sophar the Naamathite went, and did as the Lord had spoken to them, and the Lord accepted the face of Job. Ἐπορεύθη δὲ Ἐλιφὰζ ὁ Θαιμανίτης, καὶ Βαλδὰδ ὁ Σαυχίτης, καὶ Σωφὰρ ὁ Μιναῖος, καὶ ἐποίησαν καθὼς συνέταξεν αὐτοῖς ὁ Κύριος· καὶ ἔλυσε τὴν ἁμαρτίαν αὐτοῖς διὰ Ἰὼβ.
Job 42 10 Dominus quoque conversus est ad poenitentiam Job, cum oraret ille pro amicis suis : et addidit Dominus omnia quaecumque fuerant Job, duplicia. The Lord also was turned at the penance of Job, when he prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before. Job 42 10 Dominus quoque conversus est ad poenitentiam Job, cum oraret ille pro amicis suis : et addidit Dominus omnia quaecumque fuerant Job, duplicia. Job 42 12 Dominus autem benedixit novissimis Job magis quam principio ejus : et facta sunt ei quatuordecim millia ovium, et sex millia camelorum, et mille juga boum, et mille asinae. And the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning. And he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses. Ὁ δὲ Κύριος εὐλόγησε τὰ ἔσχατα Ἰὼβ, ἢ τὰ ἔμπροσθεν· ἦν δὲ τὰ κτήνη αὐτοῦ, πρόβατα μύρια τετρακισχίλια, κάμηλοι ἑξακισχίλιαι, ζεύγη βοῶν χίλια, ὄνοι θήλειαι νομάδες χίλιαι.
Job 42 15 Non sunt autem inventae mulieres speciosae sicut filiae Job in universa terra : deditque eis pater suus haereditatem inter fratres earum. And there were not found in all the earth women so beautiful as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren. Καὶ οὐχ εὑρέθησαν κατὰ τὰς θυγατέρας Ἰὼβ, βελτίους αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ ὑπʼ οὐρανόν· ἔδωκε δὲ αὐταῖς ὁ πατὴρ κληρονομίαν ἐν τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς.
Job 42 16 Vixit autem Job post haec centum quadraginta annis, et vidit filios suos, et filios filiorum suorum usque ad quartam generationem : et mortuus est senex, et plenus dierum. And Job lived after these things, a hundred and forty years, and he saw his children, and his children's children, unto the fourth generation, and he died an old man, and full of days. Ἔζησε δὲ Ἰὼβ μετὰ τὴν πληγὴν ἔτη ἑκατὸν ἑβδομήκοντα· τὰ δὲ πάντα ἔτη ἔζησε, διακόσια τεσσράκοντα· καὶ Σἴδεν Ἰὼβ τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτοῦ, καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς τῶν υἱῶν αὐτοῦ, τετάρτην γενεάν. Καὶ ἐτελεύτησεν Ἰὼβ πρεσβύτερος, καὶ πλήρης ἡμερῶν·
Ezechiel 14 14 Et si fuerint tres viri isti in medio ejus, Noe, Daniel, et Job, ipsi justitia sua liberabunt animas suas, ait Dominus exercituum. And if these three men, Noe, Daniel, and Job, shall be in it: they shall deliver their own souls by their justice, saith the Lord of hosts. None
Ezechiel 14 20 et Noe, et Daniel, et Job fuerint in medio ejus : vivo ego, dicit Dominus Deus, quia filium et filiam non liberabunt, sed ipsi justitia sua liberabunt animas suas. James 5 11 Ecce beatificamus eos qui sustinuerunt. Sufferentiam Job audistis, et finem Domini vidistis, quoniam misericors Dominus est, et miserator. Behold, we account them blessed who have endured. You have heard of the patience of Job and you have seen the end of the Lord, that the Lord is merciful and compassionate. Ἰδού, μακαρίζομεν τοὺς ὑπομένοντας· τὴν ὑπομονὴν Ἰὼβ ἠκούσατε, καὶ τὸ τέλος κυρίου ἴδετε, ὅτι πολύσπλαγχνός ἐστιν καὶ οἰκτίρμων."
