Mark 11 27 Et veniunt rursus Jerosolymam. Et cum ambularet in templo, accedunt ad eum summi sacerdotes, et scribae, et seniores : And they come again to Jerusalem. And when he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests and the scribes and the ancients.
Now the feast of the pasch and of the Azymes was after two days: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might by some wile lay hold on him and kill him.
And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests, to betray him to them.
And while he was yet speaking, cometh Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve: and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the ancients.
And one of them that stood by, drawing a sword, struck a servant of the chief priest and cut off his ear.
And they brought Jesus to the high priest. And all the priests and the scribes and the ancients assembled together.
And they brought Jesus to the high priest. And all the priests and the scribes and the ancients assembled together.
And Peter followed him afar off, even into the court of the high priest. And he sat with the servants at the fire and warmed himself.
And the chief priests and all the council sought for evidence against Jesus, that they might put him to death: and found none.
And the high priest rising up in the midst, asked Jesus, saying: Answerest thou nothing to the things that are laid to thy charge by these men?
Mark 14 61 Ille autem tacebat, et nihil respondit. Rursum summus sacerdos interrogabat eum, et dixit ei : Tu es Christus Filius Dei benedicti ? But he held his peace and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him and said to him: Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed God?
Mark 14 63 Summus autem sacerdos scindens vestimenta sua, ait : Quid adhuc desideramus testes ? Then the high priest rending his garments, saith: What need we any further witnesses?
Mark 14 66 Et cum esset Petrus in atrio deorsum, venit una ex ancillis summi sacerdotis : Now when Peter was in the court below, there cometh one of the maidservants of the high priest.
And straightway in the morning, the chief priests holding a consultation with the ancients and the scribes and the whole council, binding Jesus, led him away and delivered him to Pilate.
Mark 15 3 Et accusabant eum summi sacerdotes in multis. And the chief priests accused him in many things.
For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him up out of envy.
But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas to them.
In like manner also the chief priests, mocking, said with the scribes one to another: He saved others; himself he cannot save.
Luke 3 2 sub principibus sacerdotum Anna et Caipha : factum est verbum Domini super Joannem, Zachariae filium, in deserto. Under the high priests Anna and Caiphas: the word of the Lord was made unto John, the son of Zachary, in the desert.
Luke 9 22 dicens : Quia oportet Filium hominis multa pati, et reprobari a senioribus, et principibus sacerdotum, et scribis, et occidi, et tertia die resurgere. Saying: The Son of man must suffer many things and be rejected by the ancients and chief priests and scribes and be killed and the third day rise again.
Luke 19 47 Et erat docens quotidie in templo. Principes autem sacerdotum, et scribae, et princeps plebis quaerebant illum perdere : And he was teaching daily in the temple. And the chief priests and the scribes and the rulers of the people sought to destroy him.
And the chief priests and the scribes sought to lay hands on him the same hour: but they feared the people, for they knew that he spoke this parable to them.
Luke 22 2 et quaerebant principes sacerdotum, et scribae, quomodo Jesum interficerent : timebant vero plebem. And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put Jesus to death: but they feared the people.
And he went and discoursed with the chief priests and the magistrates, how he might betray him to them.
Luke 22 50 Et percussit unus ex illis servum principis sacerdotum, et amputavit auriculam ejus dexteram. And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear.
And Jesus said to the chief priests and magistrates of the temple and the ancients, that were come unto him: Are ye come out, as it were against a thief, with swords and clubs?
Luke 22 54 Comprehendentes autem eum, duxerunt ad domum principis sacerdotum : Petrus vero sequebatur a longe. And apprehending him, they led him to the high priest's house. But Peter followed afar off.
And as soon as it was day, the ancients of the people and the chief priests and scribes came together. And they brought him into their council saying: If thou be the Christ, tell us.
And Pilate said to the chief priests and to the multitudes: I find no cause in this man.
And the chief priests and the scribes stood by, earnestly accusing him.
Luke 23 13 Pilatus autem, convocatis principibus sacerdotum, et magistratibus, et plebe, And Pilate, calling together the chief priests and the magistrates and the people, ¶Πιλάτος δὲ συγκαλεσάμενος τοὺς ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας καὶ τὸν λαόν,"
Luke 23 23 At illi instabant vocibus magnis postulantes ut crucifigeretur : et invalescebant voces eorum. But they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And their voices prevailed.
Luke 24 20 et quomodo eum tradiderunt summi sacerdotes et principes nostri in damnationem mortis, et crucifixerunt eum : And how our chief priests and princes delivered him to be condemned to death and crucified him.
The Pharisees heard the people murmuring these things concerning him: and the rulers and Pharisees sent ministers to apprehend him.
The ministers therefore came to the chief priests and the Pharisees. And they said to them: Why have you not brought him?
John 11 47 Collegerunt ergo pontifices et pharisaei concilium, et dicebant : Quid facimus, quia hic homo multa signa facit ? The chief priests, therefore, and the Pharisees gathered a council and said: What do we, for this man doth many miracles?
John 11 49 Unus autem ex ipsis, Caiphas nomine, cum esset pontifex anni illius, dixit eis : Vos nescitis quidquam, But one of them, named Caiphas, being the high priest that year, said to them: You know nothing.
And this he spoke not of himself: but being the high priest of that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for the nation.
John 11 57 And the chief priests and Pharisees had given a commandment, that if any man knew where he was, he should tell, that they might apprehend him.
John 12 10 Cogitaverunt autem principes sacerdotum ut et Lazarum interficerent : But the chief priests thought to kill Lazarus also: Ἐβουλεύσαντο δὲ οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς ἵνα καὶ τὸν Λάζαρον ἀποκτείνωσιν·
Judas therefore having received a band of soldiers and servants from the chief priests and the Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.
John 18 10 Simon ergo Petrus habens gladium eduxit eum : et percussit pontificis servum, et abscidit auriculam ejus dexteram. Erat autem nomen servo Malchus. Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear. And the name of thee servant was Malchus.
And they led him away to Annas first, for he was father-in-law to Caiphas, who was the high priest of that year.
And Simon Peter followed Jesus: and so did another disciple. And that disciple was known to the high priest and went in with Jesus into the court of the high priest.
And Simon Peter followed Jesus: and so did another disciple. And that disciple was known to the high priest and went in with Jesus into the court of the high priest.
But Peter stood at the door without. The other disciple therefore, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the portress and brought in Peter.
The high priest therefore asked Jesus of his disciples and of his doctrine.
John 18 22 Haec autem cum dixisset, unus assistens ministrorum dedit alapam Jesu, dicens : Sic respondes pontifici ? And when he had said these things, one of the servants standing by gave Jesus a blow, saying: Answerest thou the high priest so?
John 18 24 Et misit eum Annas ligatum ad Caipham pontificem. And Annas sent him bound to Caiphas the high priest.
John 18 26 Dicit ei unus ex servis pontificis, cognatus ejus, cujus abscidit Petrus auriculam : Nonne ego te vidi in horto cum illo ? One of the servants of the high priest (a kinsman to him whose ear Peter cut off) saith to him: Did not I see thee in the garden with him?
John 18 35 Respondit Pilatus : Numquid ego Judaeus sum ? gens tua et pontifices tradiderunt te mihi : quid fecisti ? Pilate answered: Am I a Jew? Thy own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee up to me. What hast thou done?
When the chief priests, therefore, and the servants had seen him, they cried out, saying: Crucify him, Crucify him. Pilate saith to them: Take him you, and crucify him: for I find no cause in him.
John 19 15 Illi autem clamabant : Tolle, tolle, crucifige eum. Dicit eis Pilatus : Regem vestrum crucifigam ? Responderunt pontifices : Non habemus regem, nisi Caesarem. But they cried out: Away with him: Away with him: Crucify him. Pilate saith to them: shall I crucify your king? The chief priests answered: We have no king but Caesar.
John 19 21 Dicebant ergo Pilato pontifices Judaeorum : Noli scribere : Rex Judaeorum : sed quia ipse dixit : Rex sum Judaeorum. Then the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate: Write not: The King of the Jews. But that he said: I am the King of the Jews.
And Annas the high priest and Caiphas and John and Alexander: and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest.
And being let go, they came to their own company and related all that the chief priests and ancients had said to them.
Then the high priest rising up, and all they that were with him (which is the heresy of the Sadducees) were filled with envy.
Who having heard this, early in the morning, entered into the temple and taught. And the high priest coming, and they that were with him, called together the council and all the ancients of the children of Israel: and they sent to the prison to have them brought.
Now when the officer of the temple and the chief priests heard these words, they were in doubt concerning them, what would come to pass.
Acts 5 27 Et cum adduxissent illos, statuerunt in concilio : et interrogavit eos princeps sacerdotum, And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest asked them, Ἀγαγόντες δὲ αὐτοὺς ἔστησαν ἐν τῷ συνεδρίῳ.
Then the high priest said: Are these things so?
Acts 9 1 Saulus autem adhuc spirans minarum et caedis in discipulos Domini, accessit ad principem sacerdotum, And Saul, as yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest Ὁ δὲ Σαῦλος ἔτι ἐμπνέων ἀπειλῆς καὶ φόνου εἰς τοὺς μαθητὰς τοῦ κυρίου, προσελθὼν τῷ ἀρχιερεῖ,"
Acts 9 14 et hic habet potestatem a principibus sacerdotum alligandi omnes qui invocant nomen tuum. And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that invoke thy name.
And all that heard him were astonished and said: Is not this he who persecuted in Jerusalem those that called upon this name and came hither for that intent, that he might carry them bound to the chief priests?
And there were certain men, seven sons of Sceva, a Jew, a chief priest, that did this.
As the high priest doth bear me witness and all the ancients. From whom also receiving letters to the brethren, I went to Damascus, that I might bring them bound from thence to Jerusalem to be punished.
But on the next day, meaning to know more diligently for what cause he was accused by the Jews, he loosed him and commanded the priests to come together and all the council: and, bringing forth Paul, he set him before them.
Acts 23 2 Princeps autem sacerdotum Ananias praecepit astantibus sibi percutere os ejus. And the high priest, Ananias, commanded them that stood by him to strike him on the mouth.
Acts 23 4 Et qui astabant dixerunt : Summum sacerdotem Dei maledicis. And they that stood by said: Dost thou revile the high priest of God?
And Paul said: I knew not, brethren, that he is the high priest. For it is written: Thou shalt not speak evil of the prince of thy people.
Who came to the chief priests and the ancients and said: We have bound ourselves under a great curse that we will eat nothing till we have slain Paul.
And after five days, the high priest, Ananias, came down with some ancients and one Tertullus, an orator, who went to the governor against Paul.
Acts 25 2 Adieruntque eum principes sacerdotum et primi Judaeorum adversus Paulum : et rogabant eum, And the chief priests and principal men of the Jews went unto him against Paul: and they besought him, Ἐνεφάνισαν δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς καὶ οἱ πρῶτοι τῶν Ἰουδαίων κατὰ τοῦ Παύλου, καὶ παρεκάλουν αὐτόν,"
About whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the ancients of the Jews came unto me, desiring condemnation against him.
Which also I did at Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority of the chief priests. And when they were put to death, I brought the sentence.
Acts 26 12 In quibus dum irem Damascum cum potestate et permissu principum sacerdotum, Whereupon, when I was going to Damascus with authority and permission of the chief priest, Ἐν οἷς καὶ πορευόμενος εἰς τὴν Δαμασκὸν μετ’ ἐξουσίας καὶ ἐπιτροπῆς τῆς παρὰ τῶν ἀρχιερέων,"
Wherefore, it behoved him in all things to be made like unto his brethren, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest before God, that he might be a propitiation for the sins of the people.
Hebrews 3 1 Unde, fratres sancti, vocationis caelestis participes, considerate Apostolum, et pontificem confessionis nostrae Jesum : Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly vocation consider the apostle and high priest of our confession, Jesus:
Hebrews 4 14 Habentes ergo pontificem magnum qui penetravit caelos, Jesum Filium Dei, teneamus confessionem. Having therefore a great high priest that hath passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God: let us hold fast our confession.
For we have not a high priest who cannot have compassion on our infirmities: but one tempted in all things like as we are, without sin.
For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in the things that appertain to God, that he may offer up gifts and sacrifices for sins: Πᾶς γὰρ ἀρχιερεύς, ἐξ ἀνθρώπων λαμβανόμενος, ὑπὲρ ἀνθρώπων καθίσταται τὰ πρὸς τὸν θεόν, ἵνα προσφέρῃ δῶρά τε καὶ θυσίας ὑπὲρ ἁμαρτιῶν·"
So Christ also did not glorify himself, that he might be made a high priest: but he that said unto him: Thou art my Son: this day have I begotten thee.
Hebrews 5 10 appellatus a Deo pontifex juxta ordinem Melchisedech. Called by God a high priest, according to the order of Melchisedech.
Hebrews 6 20 ubi praecursor pro nobis introivit Jesus, secundum ordinem Melchisedech pontifex factus in aeternum. Where the forerunner Jesus is entered for us, made a high priest for ever according to the order of Melchisedech.
Hebrews 7 26 Talis enim decebat ut nobis esset pontifex, sanctus, innocens, impollutus, segregatus a peccatoribus, et excelsior caelis factus : For it was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens: ¶Τοιοῦτος γὰρ ἡμῖν ἔπρεπεν ἀρχιερεύς, ὅσιος, ἄκακος, ἀμίαντος, κεχωρισμένος ἀπὸ τῶν ἁμαρτωλῶν, καὶ ὑψηλότερος τῶν οὐρανῶν γενόμενος·"
Who needeth not daily (as the other priests) to offer sacrifices, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, in offering himself.
For the law maketh men priests, who have infirmity: but the word of the oath (which was since the law) the Son who is perfected for evermore.
Now of the things which we have spoken, this is the sum: We have such an high priest who is set on the right hand of the throne of majesty in the heavens,
For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is necessary that he also should have some thing to offer.
Hebrews 9 7 in secundo autem semel in anno solus pontifex non sine sanguine, quem offert pro sua et populi ignorantia : But into the second, the high priest alone, once a year: not without blood, which he offereth for his own and the people's ignorance: εἰς δὲ τὴν δευτέραν ἅπαξ τοῦ ἐνιαυτοῦ μόνος ὁ ἀρχιερεύς, οὐ χωρὶς αἵματος, ὃ προσφέρει ὑπὲρ ἑαυτοῦ καὶ τῶν τοῦ λαοῦ ἀγνοημάτων·"
Hebrews 9 11 Christus autem assistens pontifex futurorum bonorum, per amplius et perfectius tabernaculum, non manufactum, id est, non hujus creationis : But Christ, being come an high Priest of the good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hand, that is, not of this creation: ¶Χριστὸς δὲ παραγενόμενος ἀρχιερεὺς τῶν μελλόντων ἀγαθῶν, διὰ τῆς μείζονος καὶ τελειοτέρας σκηνῆς, οὐ χειροποιήτου, τοῦτ’ ἔστιν, οὐ ταύτης τῆς κτίσεως,"
Hebrews 9 25 neque ut saepe offerat semetipsum, quemadmodum pontifex intrat in Sancta per singulos annos in sanguine alieno : Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the Holies every year with the blood of others: οὐδ’ ἵνα πολλάκις προσφέρῃ ἑαυτόν, ὥσπερ ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς εἰσέρχεται εἰς τὰ ἅγια κατ’ ἐνιαυτὸν ἐν αἵματι ἀλλοτρίῳ·"
For the bodies of those beasts whose blood is brought into the holies by the high priest for sin are burned without the camp.
