Exsurgent enim pseudochristi et pseudoprophetae, et dabunt signa et portenta ad seducendos, si fieri potest, etiam electos.

For there will rise up false Christs and false prophets: and they shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce (if it were possible) even the elect.

Ἐγερθήσονται γὰρ ψευδόχριστοι καὶ ψευδοπροφῆται, καὶ δώσουσιν σημεῖα καὶ τέρατα, πρὸς τὸ ἀποπλανᾷν, εἰ δυνατόν, καὶ τοὺς ἐκλεκτούς."

Radix enim omnium malorum est cupiditas : quam quidam appetentes erraverunt a fide, et inseruerunt se doloribus multis.

For the desire of money is the root of all evils; which some coveting have erred from the faith and have entangled themselves in many sorrows.

Ῥίζα γὰρ πάντων τῶν κακῶν ἐστὶν ἡ φιλαργυρία· ἧς τινὲς ὀρεγόμενοι ἀπεπλανήθησαν ἀπὸ τῆς πίστεως, καὶ ἑαυτοὺς περιέπειραν ὀδύναις πολλαῖς."
